         Caressa attended the Inaugural Opening Ceremony and Concert at the                 Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument during the day.














          
    Attending the Capitol Gala Ball hosted by the U.S. Army that night.

          Caressa visited both the Walter Reed Hospital in DC and the Bethesda                  Naval Hospital (Bethesda, MD) as part of Inauguration week activities.

          Caressa at the Miss America Pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort and            Casino to cheer on her friend Miss Virginia 2008 Tara Wheeler.

          Caressa gave up her 2008 Miss Hanover title at the 2009 Miss Hanover                  Pageant.

9         "Real Talk - AIDS in America" Presentation at Riverbend High School
          (Fredericksburg, VA)

18       "Queens of Green" with Miranda Harrison, Miss Arlington's Outstanding Teen                   (Glen Allen, VA)
           Caressa, Miranda, and several other local Miss, Teen, and Preteen                          titleholders got together for an Earth Day celebration to clean up a local                park.  More than 200 pounds of recyclable material was collected!


















23       Unveiling of USO Mobile Canteen at the Pentagon (Arlington, VA)
           Caressa was honored to have been invited to the official unveiling                          ceremony of the USO Mobile Canteen held at the Pentagon. The USO of               Metropolitan Washington is a field service organization that provides                    services to our armed forces throughout the United States. The Mobile                 Canteen is a gift from the Boeing Company.











































25       Community Coalition Against Crime (CCAC) and Rapp-TAP Health Fair &              Family Fun Day (Stafford, VA) - Caressa will be a guest performer, event                          volunteer, and make the Announcement of the "Face of Rapp-TAP" Winners!

















MAY 2009
1         St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Major League Baseball Game                    (Washington, DC) - Caressa was asked to sing the National Anthem before the               Friday night game at Nationals Park.  What an honor!


































8         Annual Luncheon for the Wounded Soldiers at the Pentagon (Arlington, VA)
   [Appearance moved to July 10th at organizer's request.]

9-10   Designer Fashion Show (Kingsport, TN) - Caressa modeled Juan Carlos                         clothing in a fashion show on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.



















16       9th Annual CMN Fundraiser - Sponsored by Food Lion (Fredericksburg, VA) -                Guest Performer and Volunteer. - Caressa volunteered at the 9th Annual CMN                 Food Lion Fundraiser at Fredericksburg Fair Ground.  Caressa also sang the                 National Anthem in honor of Armed Forces Day.  The fair was a ton of fun and it               raised over $7,100 for CMN!




























29       "Oldies but Goodies" CMN Fundraiser (Spotsylvania, VA)

30       Teen Summit (Fredericksburg, VA) - Panel speaker and judge for talent show.
    At the summit, with the theme of "Now is your Time To Be A Hero", students                     participated from six surrounding counties, the Greater Richmond area and                      Northern Virgina. Caressa was part of a panel discussion that presented                          information on AIDS Awareness to over 300 students. After presenting                              comprehensive information about HIV, Caressa answered questioned from                      students and parents.

Caress at her presentation with Sarah Middleton, Education Coordinator for Rapp-TAP (Teen Abstinence Program). Caressa has partnered with Rapp-TAP and is spearheading a community service project called "The Face of Rapp-TAP - Spokes Model Essay Contest".  The contest will select two winners answering questions relating to sexual health and setting goals. Winners will be announced in May at a community activity sponsored by Rapp-TAP.

          (Spotsylvania, VA)
   Caressa visited her alma mater and gave her "Real Talk" presentation.



















13WFLS Radiothion @ CMN Fundraiser (Fredericksburg, VA)
    Caressa volunteered at the WFLS Radiothon, which raised over $95,000               for CMN and the Children's National Medical Center.


























15Vintage Faith Annual Community Service Day
    Caressa is featured as a solo performer at the annual community service              and volunteer day.

          (Spotsylvania, VA)

































19       Sitter and Barefoot Veterans Care Center (Richmond, VA)
  Later that same day, Caressa visited and performed for the residents at            the Veterans Care Center.

Caressa had a great time volunteering at the WFLS Radiothon, which raised money for CMN and the Children's National Medical Center.  During the day, Caressa answered phones and took pledge calls, got to know some of the WFLS employees and volunteers who worked the radiothon, and spoke live on the air about the partnership between CMN and the Miss America Organization.  It was a fun day!
(Right) Caressa passing out cups of water to 9th graders for a demonstration on how infection spreads. Each person was given a cup and then they exchanged the fluid from their cup with three other classmates.  Afterward each person's cup was mixed with a chemical from a tube (symbolic of an STI).  A pink reaction from the chemical mix was positive for an STI or HIV. The result was over 65% of the class had been infected with some sort of STI. It had a profound impact on the class!
(Left) Caressa explains the difference between HIV and AIDS, as well as different STIs, such as the Hepatitis B and C Viruses.  Caressa also explains the inability of a person with AIDS to fight off diseases.
